Request deletion of your ScanMyReceipt data
Last updated August 14, 2026
This page is for the Android app ScanMyReceipt on Google Play, published by developer Darshan. It explains how to request that your account and associated data be deleted, what we delete, and what we cannot delete.
How to request deletion
Use either method. Both cover your ScanMyReceipt account and the data stored with it.
Option 1 — In the ScanMyReceipt app (fastest)
- Open the ScanMyReceipt app and sign in.
- Go to Settings.
- Tap Delete account (below Sign out).
- Confirm. You must be online.
If a paid plan is still set to auto-renew, the app will ask you to tap Manage subscription first and cancel in Google Play. Then return and delete the account.
Option 2 — Email Darshan
- Email [email protected] from the email address on your ScanMyReceipt account.
- Use the subject line Delete ScanMyReceipt account.
- Include the account email and that you want Darshan to delete your ScanMyReceipt account and associated data.
We will confirm and complete deletion within 30 days of a valid request (usually sooner).
Data that is deleted
When deletion completes, we delete:
- Account login (name, email, password hash)
- Receipt photos stored on our servers
- Receipt records and extracted fields (merchant, dates, amounts, line items, notes)
- Tags, categories, and in-app feedback you sent
- Plan label stored on your profile (Free / Pro / Business)
- The local library copy on a device that completes in-app deletion
We do not keep a backup of that account for a further retention period after deletion, except as noted below.
Data that is kept (or we cannot delete)
- Google Play / Apple subscriptions and purchase history. Billing is handled by Google (or Apple). Deleting your ScanMyReceipt account does not cancel auto-renew or erase the store receipt. Cancel in Google Play: Play Store → profile → Payments & subscriptions. Darshan cannot cancel a Play subscription for you.
- Security and abuse logs (for example IP or request logs on our hosts) may be retained up to 90 days, then overwritten, unless a longer period is required by law.
- Legal holds. If we are required to keep a record for a dispute, tax, or law-enforcement request, we retain only what the law requires and only for that period.
- Emails you send to [email protected] may stay in the inbox up to 24 months for support quality, then be deleted.
Subscriptions
If you already cancelled but the paid period has not ended, deleting the account ends access to remaining paid time. A later ScanMyReceipt account on the same Google account can use Restore purchases in the app; that does not restore deleted receipts.
