Terms of Service
Last updated August 14, 2026
These terms govern your use of the ScanMyReceipt mobile application and this website. By creating an account or downloading the app you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
Related: Privacy Policy, Pricing, Delete account.
1. The service
ScanMyReceipt is a receipt scanner and organizer. You can capture or import receipts, extract text and line items, search, tag, and export (PDF, CSV, Excel, ZIP). It is not accounting software, tax advice, a bank, or an employee expense platform.
2. Accounts
You must provide a real email and keep your password confidential. You are responsible for activity on your account. You must be old enough to form a contract in your country (and at least 13).
3. Your content
You retain rights to photos and notes you add. You grant us a limited license to store, sync, and process them so the app can work (including sending images to our OCR provider). You represent that you have the right to scan those documents.
4. Subscriptions and billing
- The app is free to install. Paid plans add monthly scan quota only.
- Free: 20 scans/month. Pro: $4.99/month or $39.99/year, 200 scans/month. Business: $12.99/month or $99.99/year, 1,000 scans/month (not unlimited).
- A scan is one receipt processed by our servers (camera or gallery). Quota resets each calendar month, including on yearly plans.
- Payment is charged to your Apple or Google account. Purchases are processed by Apple or Google under their terms. We use RevenueCat to read entitlements.
- Subscriptions auto-renew until you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends in App Store or Google Play subscription settings (Settings → Manage subscription in the app). ScanMyReceipt cannot cancel a store subscription for you.
- Deleting your ScanMyReceipt account does not stop Apple or Google billing. Cancel the store subscription first.
- Restore purchases on the same store account if you reinstall. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google, not by us directly.
5. Acceptable use
Do not:
- Abuse OCR or quotas, probe, or disrupt the service
- Upload malware or others’ private documents without permission
- Reverse engineer the app except as allowed by law
- Use the service for unlawful activity
We may suspend accounts that violate these terms.
6. Accuracy
OCR can be wrong. You are responsible for checking extracted amounts before you rely on them for taxes, clients, or reimbursement. Exports are convenience copies, not certified records.
7. Availability
The app works offline for saved receipts. Uploads, OCR, and cloud sync need a network. We do not guarantee uninterrupted service.
8. Intellectual property
The app, website, name, and logo are ours or our licensors’. You may not copy them except as needed to use the service.
9. Disclaimer and liability
The service is provided “as is.” To the fullest extent permitted by law we disclaim implied warranties. We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for losses from OCR mistakes, lost receipts you did not back up, or store billing. Our total liability for a claim is limited to the amounts you paid us for the service in the 12 months before the claim (often $0 if you are on Free; store fees are paid to Apple or Google). Some places do not allow these limits; they apply only as far as local law allows. You keep any non-waivable consumer rights.
10. Termination
You may delete your account at any time (see Delete account). We may terminate access for breach or if we shut down the product, with reasonable notice where practical.
11. Changes
We may update these terms. Continued use after the updated date means you accept the new terms, except where the law requires extra consent.
