How to Export Receipts to PDF
PDF exports are for reading and sharing: a clean packet of receipt summaries without asking anyone to open a raw data file.
When PDF is the right format
Use PDF when the recipient needs to review expenses visually—an accountant flipping through a quarter, a client confirming reimbursable costs, or you archiving a trip. PDFs travel well by email and look consistent on any device.
ScanMyReceipt supports PDF exports as reviewable reports with receipt summaries, along with CSV, Excel, and ZIP.
Build the packet from a filtered set
Start from search and filters. Exporting a focused date range or category keeps the PDF short enough to read. A 400-page dump of every receipt since you installed the app is rarely what anyone asked for.
Because each receipt already carries merchant, date, totals, and your categories or tags, the summary reflects the organization work you did at capture time.
PDF vs spreadsheet vs ZIP
PDF is for reading. CSV and Excel are for sorting and totals in a spreadsheet. ZIP is for bundling images with spreadsheet files when supporting documents are requested.
It is common to send a PDF overview plus an Excel file for the same period. Match the format to the audience.
- PDF — readable summaries for people
- Excel / CSV — analysis and imports
- ZIP — images plus spreadsheet files together
Keep the live library as the source of truth
A PDF is a snapshot. Continue scanning new receipts into ScanMyReceipt, and re-export when you need an updated packet. That avoids version chaos from edited PDFs floating around email threads.
ScanMyReceipt helps you organize and manage receipt records. It does not determine whether an expense is deductible and does not provide tax, accounting, or legal advice. Consult a qualified professional for advice about your specific situation.
